SUMMARY:
William may be the same individual identified as the brother of Thomas in
#4a, and whose son Joseph (see below) was from his first marriage.
Alternatively he could be another individual with the same name, similar age
and also living in Tartaraghan. William (#4a) was a weaver, whilst William
(#4b) was a labourer ñ however this type of switch in jobs was not uncommon.
William (#4b) was born about 1794, married Eliza, and died in 1860 in
Derryaugh. He was buried in Milltown cemetery.

His first known son was Joseph was born in 1826 in Cloncore, Tartaraghan.
He was a weaver, and married Sarah Brannan in 1852. They had nine children
in the Tartaraghan region ñ 1. James, 1852 [married Sarah Anne McCann and
settled in Glasgow, Scotland]. James and Sarah Anne had eight children -
Agnes (1878), Joseph John (1880), Sarah Ann (1882), Samuel George (1884),
Mary Jane (1886), Robert Henry (1888, died 1889), James (1891) and John.
The granddaughter of Joseph John (Eleanor Strain) is actively research this
branch of the family. 2. Martha Ann, 1854, died 1872 [16 years]; 3. Mary
Eliza, 1857; 4. Joseph, 1859 [married Rebecca Aston]; 5. Robert John, 1862;
6. Ruth, 1864; 7. Samuel, 1867; 8. David, 1869; 9. Rachel, 1871. Apart from
James who settled in Glasgow there is no trace of the remaining children.
It is possible therefore that some also left Ireland and settled elsewhere.
Three other possible children of William and Eliza are recorded in the
townland of Tartaraghan:
Ruth, 1831 [married James Fox in 1868]. No further details are known.
Amelia, 1835. No further details.
Robert, 1841. No further details
Joseph died in 1891 in Tartaraghan, his wife was still alive at that time.
