SUMMARY:
This family appears to have a distinct origin compared with the other Irish Vennards in that their earliest ancestor (James Venart) is recorded in Ramanny, Co. Monaghan. James (born about 1815, probably in Ramanny) married Mary Somerville (born 1818). James was a farmer and they had four children.

1. Thomas Venart (1847, Ramanny) married Letitia Macauley (1841, Londonderry) in 1877 in Londonderry, Co. Londonderry. Thomas was in the Royal Ulster Constabulary, based in Londonderry. They had four children i) James Herbert Somerville (1878, who married his cousin Georgina Letitia Macauley in 1901. They had three children and the family emigrated to Canada in 1926. Their grand-daughter (Janice Harris) is actively researching this branch of the family; ii) Florence Louise (1879, emigrated to Philadelphia, USA, unmarried, died in 1950); iii) Walter John (1881, died 1904 aged 23); iv) Thomas Frederick (1882, unmarried, died 1912 in Ontario, Canada). Thomas died in 1899, aged 52, and Letitia in 1907, aged 55 Ð both in Londonderry.

2. Sarah Jane Venard (1853) Married William Dixon. Settled in Ontario, Canada. No further details known.

3. Mary Venard (1856) Married William Beatty. Settled in Ontario, Canada. No further details known.
